I just pulled a book out of one of my book cases, which is always a good place for me to go looking for a book, and opened it at a random page. Reading the first sentence on the page, which happened to be a new chapter, I found what must be the biggest understatement I can remember reading or hearing in quite a while.
I guess I haven't read that many of what Ottaker's consider the 'Essential' books. I've listed here the one's I've actually read.
- Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck - (still own a copy)
- Animal Farm by George Orwell
- The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark
- Charlotte's Web by E.B. White
- Stig of the Dump by Clive King
Well that was a monumental waste of time going through to see a new EMA module in Glasgow. (It's a student funding scheme of some sort). The section I was there for was the instructions on how to install it. This consisted of a power point presentation of the instructions, a live demo of someone following those instructions and the printed copy of the presentation slides. The print out was handed to me before I even sat down, and I had a quick flick through. All very basic, nothing remotely complicated.
A GURPS Cossmass game due to run at GEAS during the academic year 2004/5.
UPDATE: I will NOT be at GEAS this year.

Sundays 6pm till 10pm in the Mezzanine, Teviot House, Edinburgh
Exact dates unknown but likely to be close to University term dates.

Want to play?
Leave a comment here if you are interested in playing a character.
Campaign first run at very short notice when I turned up to GEAS and was asked if I would run a game four hours later. I pulled an old dusty but well used campaign idea out of the hat and got started.
Player Characters
The assorted collection of next door neighbours who tried to come to the rescue of an elderly neighbour, Nick Clark and ended up stranded and wandering lost across different universes within the Cossmass.
A dimension hopping RPG setting/campaign.
This setting was previously known as GURPS Talims.

A worn stone path led up to the church's huge wooden double doors.
In the centre of the path there was an engraved rose nearly three feet in diameter. Rex went up to the doors and tried to open them. The engravings in the centre of the path meant nothing to him. The doors were old, and heavy. The door slowly began to swing inwards. The church was lit by half a dozen high stained glass windows and a scattering of candles. In the aisle Rex could see two bodies slumped, with a third prostrated awkwardly upon the steps of the alter.
Kara recognised the patterns on the path outside from when she had looked in through the gate earlier. It was the same pattern as the one sketched inside the cover of the book.
An elaborate iron cross had been inlaid into the centre of the rose, stretching out and between several of the rose's petals. The cross itself had a hollow depression in it's centre.
Two of the twenty teams registered for the X Prize have both announced yesterday that they will be making their claims on the $10 million prize money later this year.
