I've been have the occasional look at ebay over the last week or so. Looking for USB/IrDA devices to allow me to connect my new mobile up to my Linux box, so I can keep the address book and schedule synchronized.
The man who invented Ctrl+Alt+Delete retired on Friday. David Bradley, 55, spent five minutes writing the computer code that has helped bail out millions of PC users, while working for IBM in the 1980s. "I may have invented it, but Bill Gates made it famous," Bradley said.
At last, my phone is working!!! *insert maniacal laughter here*
The problem was that they had the wrong SIM card number logged against my account. It's sorted now and I'm being credited with the 17 days line rental they had already billed me for. It was their fault after all, but I still had to ask them to do it.

I just turned my keyboard upside down and gave it a shake. Yuck. Lots of crumbs.
Also, the small burn on the back of my hand from last week is very itchy. Must ... not ... scratch! LOL I wrote that and immediately scratched my neck.
I'm doing some writing today. Target for today is to get the overall total up to 10,000 words. Only another 900 to go.
Everyone seems to be smacking penguins over the last couple of days. My record is '576.1'. [Update: make that 588.8!]
Did I do any writing yesterday? No. Not a word.
I've had my new phone over 24 hours now, and I still can't get through to the help desk to get it activated. *grumble*
Got my script last night and marked up my lines this morning.
The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly; it is dearness only that gives everything its value. I love the man that can smile in trouble, that can gather strength from distress and grow brave.
-- Thomas Paine, 1737 - 1809
My phone finally came this morning. And no, that has nothing to do with the quote, it happens to be his birthday.
- Write a quick web interface to a simple payment file conversion utility for use by the Bursary Administrator, so he can keep paying student without having to bother me while I'm on holiday.
Okay, I'll do it tomorrow.
- Add at least a 1000 words to the collected notes for Last One. Currently sitting at 7407.
Update: now at 8522
Watched From Hell this morning, and have already posted it back. Next film should be here Friday.
As I said when I requested these three weeks off, this is when it snows. Okay, I didn't explicitly mention snow, but it was snow I was talking about.
I woke up this morning and there were these big hunks of glowing white, dropping out of the sky. Fat fairies, their wings unable to hold them up anymore.
Now I'm going to sit and watch 'From Hell', my latest WebFlix rental.
Found out what happened to my phone. The driver put a card through the wrong letter box. Don't ask me who's, it wasn't mine. So after seven days of not hearing from me, it got shipped back to the sender. My phone has been back with O2 since Friday morning. They hadn't thought to ask me what I would like them to do with it. Now I'm trying to get back through to the constantly engaged customer service department.
