The local Dramatic Society had a line on the local free paper looking for fresh blood. Sounds like it might be fun. I've done a couple of (very) amatur productions in the past. The most recent was as an Ugly-Sister for a panto that was put on at the college I work at. Just try to imagine me with a full red beard and a blue dress. Yes, it's a scarry thought. And they still let children into see it.
So, I'm going to call the contact number at the weekend and go along. It'll get me out of the house and meeting people at any rate.
Whilst partaking of a Pizza on Monday an old friend and I got nudged in reminising about our past and the various silly events that we went to 'back-in-the-day'.
Waking up at 5 this morning to put some herbs into the Bread Maker wasn't soo hard. Then when it started beeping at the back of 7 to say it was finished. I got up at a decent time in the morning for the first time in two weeks. Parsley and Oragano bread smells lovely. I used twice the yeast this time, and the loaf is twice the height. Toasted a slice for my breakfast. Mmmm.
The bread is absolutely delicious. I'll definitely be making much more. The raisins appear to be quite spaced out, so I think next time I'll put in double the amount. The bread isn't crumbly like the stuff I get on prescription. I didn't need to microwave it first. Good honest bread! I've missed it.
Sat down this evening and got my finances all upto date on the computer. I'd let things slip since the last computer went toastie on the hard disk.
I think I'll put my feet up and read some of Robinson's The Martians before calling it a night.
When I went to the Coeliac coffee morning a few weeks ago, one of the commitee members offered me the loan of a Break Maker that she had bought but had then decided she didn't want. It finally got delivered to me at work today, through the good will of the staff at our Falkirk out-centre and Alan. Alan also works for IT, and his job involves going round the out-centres and maintaining their PCs. He had been out to Falkirk today and brought back a big black bag with cable tie on it. He was a tad curious about what was in it.
Last night was my weekly pilgrimige to Pizza Hut. I found out a couple of weeks ago that I actually know one of the kitchen staff. A student who did a work placement with the IT Department I work in. I asked him to pop into IT sometime when he was in college, and I explained about my Coeliac condition. Basically explaining what he, I hoped, would already know about avoiding cross-contamination with my pizza bases. It was only while speaking to him that it occured to me that I've been having the Pepperoni Feast topping for the last few weeks, and my guts have been acting up.
Doesn't look like I can get VPN working without some assistance from he-who-manages-the-firewall. He is unlikely to be too forthcoming with opening a UDP port for me. OpenVPN is Open Source and he keeps making snide remarks about Linux and such-like in an attempt to bait me. I just ignore him.
I'll see if I can get my workstation to dial up my computer at home and get access that way. Need to look at options on how to initiate such a dial-up from home.
I got an email from my valentine at lunch time today, thanking me for the card and saying that the poem was good and that she couldn't see us being any more than just friends.
On a musical note ... I bought a ticket to see Cats, the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, when I comes to Edinburgh in May. Should be cool, I've got a seat third row from the stage.
I've dropped of a card to my 'valentine'. I dropped it in her mail tray as I was leaving work today.
I even wrote a dreadful poem. Hopefully that won't put her off.
I'm surprisingly much more chipper than I was when I got home from work yesterday. Optomistic, the mood of today. Pesamistic, the mood of yesterday. The wonders of a good nights sleep. And of, some what, affirmative action.
I expect I'll be a bundle of nerves tomorrow. I did at least sign the card.
is not the time to sit and consider the approaching Friday the 14th. And I, as usual, am still single. I think the last time I even got a card was from my mum about 15 years ago. I guess I should be greatful for that.
